Mam Tor
​Rising above the village of Castleton, Mam Tor - known as the “Shivering Mountain” - offers one of the most rewarding walks in the Peak District. With sweeping views across the Edale and Hope Valleys, it’s a favourite for both casual walkers and keen hikers. The well-paved trail to the summit is accessible and scenic, making it perfect for families or those looking for a gentler adventure. Whether you're catching the sunrise from the ridge or enjoying a leisurely afternoon stroll, Mam Tor promises -vistas and a true sense of Peak District beauty.
Walk Recommendation:
The National Trusts 3 mile Mam Tor circular. It's moderate difficulty, dog-friendly, and takes approximately 2 hours.
Kinder Scout
​For those seeking a wilder, more rugged experience, Kinder Scout is a must. As the highest point in the Peak District, it’s steeped in natural beauty and historical significance—most notably as the site of the 1932 Mass Trespass. The challenging hike rewards you with dramatic moorland landscapes, cascading waterfalls like Kinder Downfall, and panoramic views stretching across the Peaks. It's a place for real adventure and reflection, where every step brings you closer to the untamed heart of this iconic national park.
Walk Recommendation:
The National Trust's Kinder Scout route. It's rated as a challenging difficulty, 7.5 miles long, dog-friendly, and takes around 4.5 to 5.5 hours to complete.
The Monsal Trail

Following a former railway line, this scenic trail takes you through dramatic tunnels, over historic viaducts, and alongside the beautiful River Wye.
